Old Joliet Prison – Joliet, IL
According to https://www.jolietprison.org/ the iconic Old Joliet Prison (built in 1858) was built as a powerful showpiece. It was designed to not only intimidate the inmates on inside, but those outside. The prison was functional from 1858 – 2002 and was actually featured in the famous Chicago movie – The Blues Brothers.
The prison is now available to tour for people schools and special events. After the prison closed it was used for many film and movie productions like Derailed starring Clive Owen and Jennifer Aniston.
